Adults are encouraged to join us at the Wood Library to watch 13th Documentary a compelling documentary that explores how mass incarceration in the United States is connected to the justice system and racial discrimination. It argues that slavery has continued in the United States by criminalizing certain behavior, convict-leasing, suppressing African Americans, the war on drugs, and mass incarceration. The film also examines the prison-industrial complex and how it makes money from mass incarceration..  snacks will be provided.  Following the movie, community member and educator Professor Sim Covington from FLCC,  will share information on economic slavery and continued systemic racism.
