Event Details

Meet Neal H. Allen and view his "Oh, the Places You'll Go" exhibit.  Light refreshments will be served.  Everyone is welcome!

The exhibit features over thirty landscapes painted exclusively in the pastel medium, inspired by the artist’s travels in the U.S. and abroad spanning his twenty-five year journey in the pastel medium.  Artwork is available for purchase, and may be done by contacting the artist directly (information available in the gallery).

Neal H. Allen, Fine Art Pastels

Local artist Neal Allen has been working in the pastel medium for almost twenty-five years.  He began pursuing his art in a more serious vein after his retirement from a thirty-three year career teaching vocal music in the public schools and moving to the Finger Lakes from Central New York.  He credits the COVID pandemic with creating the time to focus seriously on painting.

Neal paints exclusively in pastels, and enjoys painting still-life and animal portraits, but his first love is the landscape.  He spent most of his childhood summers in Maine, and was raised in New England, and he has been lucky enough to travel to Hawaii, Arizona, California and the Middle East.  All of those experiences are captured in his work, rendered in the ‘American Impressionist’ style.

Neal is a member of the Ontario County Arts Council (board of directors and Exhibiting Artist), the Pastel Society of Western New York and the Pastel Society of America.  He is an active and proud member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Canandaigua and lives in Gorham, NY with his wife Tracy and a grumpy but well-meaning rescued cockapoo named Jeffy.
